Simply Capture A Feeling...
25 miniature piano improvisations, each recorded on separate warm summer nights.
My 7th album of piano improvisations. On past ones I've explored many formats - shorter tracks, longer tracks, and some 1 hour long tracks. My last one Spring Full Moon Solitude, recorded at full moon, following the pandemic, contained mostly sparse, atonal pieces.
On this album wanted to record many very short pieces, simply capturing a feeling, or my mood - and stop. I used an idea I used on my first piano improvisation album “Glisten”, of only recording one piece in a day. This way I would approach each piece fresh. I did allow myself to listen to the previous piece so I would not do one too similar.
And here they are. Preludes? Interludes? Listening back I felt many were introspective, thoughtful, wistful perhaps. Hence the term “Introspections”. In my teens I wrote many very short pieces I called Essences. (some I recorded and expanded on my debut piano album Sanctuary - aka Piano Natural). To capture the essence a feeling. So in a way these are improvised Essences.
Whatever they are called, I hope you will enjoy them, and perhaps feel a little as I did when I recorded them on those hot August nights.
